James McDermott

Clinic owner James brings over 14 years' experience as a physiotherapist in both public and private healthcare settings ranging from National Health Service hospitals to sports physiotherapy for a soccer league to private clinic practice. He did his undergraduate training in London, UK and graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from St.George’s University of London.

Since his graduation, he has completed many professional development courses to gain qualifications in a multitude of rehab areas; some which include acupuncture and dry needling, advanced manual therapy and spinal manipulation certification, TPI golf assessment, and further training in Pilates mat work and reformer.

After his move to Vancouver, BC, he passed all requirements by the College of Physical Therapy of BC and the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators to be fully licensed in BC. As the head physiotherapist, he will oversee the clinical therapy side of the business.

James also has a strong love of the outdoors, in particular mountaineering. With any spare time on his hands, you will find James in the mountains climbing, snowboarding or skiing. He has climbed to the summit of Mont Blanc and his next big ambition is to tackle another one of the seven summits. Additionally, he has been playing golf since a young age, as his dad is a golf enthusiast. Together they have played on golf courses around the world. James understands the frustrations behind the swing, which is why he has an interest in TPI analysis.

Evelina McDermott

Evelina brings many years of administration and project management experience to the clinic. Her background lies in the education field, as she is a trained BC public school teacher and she completed her Master’s degree in Lifelong Education from top world ranked university UCL.

She has worked in multiple countries in educational institutions, with people of diverse backgrounds and ages, and in front-facing, people-oriented roles. As such, she will be running the customer service side of the business, as she is comfortable in this type of frontline work. Furthermore, her years of university program and event management experience allow her to take on the various administrative roles of the business. Evelina having also worked for her family’s small business is thus no stranger to working many roles and filling in wherever and whenever as needed.

Evelina has a love affair with travelling. Having lived and worked in 5 different countries and travelled to over 30 countries, to say she enjoys it is an understatement. Through her travels, she met her husband James and once a former solo traveller, she is now very happy to be accompanied by husband and daughter. Evelina cannot wait to see where their next travel adventure may be!

Ben Axford

Ben brings a well-rounded, evidence-based approach to his practice as a Registered Massage Therapist. After completing a Bachelor of Science in Physics at the University of British Columbia, he chose to follow his passion for fitness, wellness, and helping others by pursuing a career in massage therapy. He graduated from the acclaimed RMT program at the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy.

With a strong belief in the value of a balanced and healthy lifestyle, Ben approaches treatment with the goal of enhancing each client’s ability to thrive in their daily life. His treatments combine relaxation, corrective techniques, and therapeutic exercise to create individualized, comprehensive care plans.

A lifelong athlete, Ben draws on personal experience in weightlifting, calisthenics, climbing, martial arts, and other sports to inform his assessment and treatment -particularly when working with active clients or those with performance goals.

Whether supporting recovery, reducing stress, or helping clients move more freely, Ben is dedicated to providing thoughtful, effective care.

Part-time hours with the aim of building to full-time.

Qualifications and Attributes:

2 part-time physiotherapists:

Specialist interest in women's health
We are looking for a qualified physiotherapist who has undergone further training in women's health and pelvic floor conditions. As a clinic that specializes in Pilates and Pilates reformer, we want you to be the referral for all women's health conditions. As your caseload is building, you will see musculoskeletal patients, but the aim will be to lead this area of women's health and only see patients for women's health.

You will have Pilates training, preferred with the Pilates reformer, so you can continue the patient's rehabilitation within our gym and Pilates area.

Musculoskeletal and sports injury focus
We are looking for a qualifed physiotherapist to bring their skills to our team. We want a physio who has passion for their skills and wants to progress in their field. Further training in an area you find interesting will be preferred, and further qualifications in areas such as kinesiology/personal training is a bonus. At least 1 year experience post graduation is required for this post.

If you are relatively new in the field of physio, we will help you grow and help you find the areas you wish to further specialize in. If you have more experience and feel somewhat stuck or are seeing the same issues day to day, then we will work with you to reignite that passion and find that next step forward.

Each physiotherapist must:
